You have said repeatedly that the media deal is all about the money, and I agree. I don't care if it's one channel, or 5. I care about the income and exposure.
I don't think the negotiation is just to preserve GoR. Babcock and Radakovich both know exactly what the target is, and the conference engaged a top consultant to do the negotiations.
If this was Swofford working one on one with ESPN, I might be even more skeptical than you, but I don't think the ADs are dumb enough to have made the statements they have without reason. Far from downplaying it, they have set expectations that this "network" will be an innovative money maker, not at the SEC/BTN level but one that will keep the ACC financially competitive.
